Terminal Themes

A theme sets the foreground, background and cursor colours of the terminal along with the sixteen ANSI colours programs ask for by number. Open Terminal Settings with and tap Color Theme. Default Dark, Dracula, Gruvbox Dark, Light, Solarized Dark, Solarized Light, Tomorrow and Tomorrow Night are built in.

Light and dark appearance are remembered separately, so the terminal can be black-on-white by day and light-on-dark at night. The theme in use shows its colours below it: tap a swatch for the colour picker, or long-tap for Use for Cursor and Use for Toolbar. Bright Bold Text switches bold output to the bright half of the palette. Long-tap the theme itself for Copy Theme, Rename, Delete and, once a built-in has been edited, Revert to Default.

With Pro Unlock a theme can belong to a single server, picked with the control at the top of the list.

Import Theme under + reads ShellFish PNG, Blink / Chrome JS and iTerm2 schemes, and dropping such a file on the list works just as well. The iTerm2 Color Schemes gallery has hundreds to choose from, and Export Theme writes any of the three formats back out.

An exported ShellFish PNG is a picture of the theme with every colour labelled and the values kept in image metadata, so a theme survives being shared as an ordinary image. Themes you create or import sync to your other devices through iCloud.
